Why are Cummins fuel filters so expensive?

The high cost of OEM fuel filters for the 6.7 Cummins can shock first-time owners. Especially when the work’s being done at a dealership, it’s not uncommon to be quoted $300 or more for this basic maintenance item.

And don’t forget, the recommended fuel filter service interval is 15,000 miles.

This is why many owners look for a more cost-friendly alternative—which is where we come in.

For Cummins owners who want the best filtration possible, and also appreciate significant savings, our Drop-In Series Fuel Systems are a no-brainer.

For around $450, these kits provide the best fuel filtration on the market, while drastically cutting the cost of fuel filter changes. Not only are FASS Filters less than half the cost of OEM, they only need to be changed every 20,000-30,000 miles (depending on fuel quality).

Depending on how much you drive, a Drop-In Series System can pay for itself in under a year.

What are the drawbacks?

Sounds too good to be true, right? The idea that you could upgrade your truck and pay yourself back with the maintenance savings sounds like a sales pitch.

Well, it is a sales pitch—but it’s an honest one. Not only is a FASS Fuel System far cheaper to maintain than the OEM setup, but through superior fuel quality, these kits provide:

  • Optimized Fuel Efficiency (results will vary)
  • 3x Injection System Life
  • Restored Horsepower
  • Sharper Throttle Response
  • Improved Cold Weather Performance
  • And More!

Simply put, there is no downside. Even with the upfront cost of purchasing a Drop-In System, the increased injection system life alone can more than makeup for the investment.

Drop-In Series vs. Titanium Signature Series

If you’ve ever visited our website, you might’ve noticed we have two kinds of fuel systems available for Ram trucks with the 6.7 liter Cummins:

  1. Titanium Signature Series Fuel Systems
  2. Drop-In Series Fuel Systems

So, what’s the difference?

Titanium Signature Series Fuel Systems are a complete fuel system replacement—including a fuel pump, fuel lines, a wiring harness, and all the accessories needed to install it. For trucks with higher mileage (when the OEM fuel pump is likely to go out), or some performance modifications that require more fuel flow, a Titanium Signature Series System is the ideal choice.

For newer, lower-mileage Rams that are stock or nearly stock, our Drop-In Series is the way to go. These systems utilize the OEM in-tank fuel pump for flow, but provide all the filtration FASS is known for. The best part? Installation is easy.

With a Drop-In Series Fuel System, there is no wiring, running fuel lines, or other modifications. These kits simply bolt in place, and connect with your factory fuel lines.
