Are FASS Fuel Systems LOUD??
Jacob Z • June 9, 2026

It's one of the most common questions we hear: "Are FASS Fuel Systems loud?"

The short answer?

No—when properly sized and properly installed, FASS Fuel Systems are among the quietest aftermarket fuel systems on the market.

In our latest video, Brad Ekstam and Josh Thornton tackle this question head-on using Brad's personal 2024 Ford F-450 6.7L Power Stroke, equipped with a 140GPH Titanium Signature Series No-Drop PLUS Fuel System.

The video below gives you a real-world listen to what a properly installed FASS system actually sounds like.

Why Do Some People Think FASS Systems Are Loud?

Like most things on the internet, context matters.

Many of the stories you hear about "loud" fuel systems involve Cummins, Duramax, and Powerstroke trucks running high-flow fuel systems that were designed for serious horsepower—not stock or mildly modified trucks.

For example, we offer a huge range of flow rates (Gallons Per Hour a.k.a GPH), including but not limited to:

  • 220GPH
  • 250GPH
  • 260GPH
  • 290GPH
  • 330GPH Competition Series
  • 360GPH Competition Series
  • 540GPH Competition Series

When used on a diesel pickup, these fuel systems are engineered to support high-performance applications such as:

  • Drag racing
  • Dyno competition
  • Sled pulling
  • Extreme horsepower street builds

Naturally, these ultra high-flow systems require a larger, more powerful pump assembly, which can generate additional noise. If your truck is stock or mildly modified, our 100GPH, 140GPH, or 165GPH systems are exactly what you'll need—and nearly silent.

High Flow = More Noise

Remember this: a truck that legitimately needs 220+ GPH of fuel flow is rarely a quiet truck to begin with.

Cummins, Duramax, and Powerstroke trucks that need 220+ GPH of fuel flow almost always have:

  • Straight-piped exhausts, bed stacks, hood stacks, etc
  • Large injectors/injection pumps
  • Aggressive tuning
  • Big single turbos or compound turbos

At that point, a little fuel pump noise is the least noticeable thing.

Properly Sized Systems Stay Quiet

For stock and mildly modified trucks, the ideal FASS Fuel Systems will almost always be:

  • Drop-In Fuel Systems (utilizes stock in-tank pump, literally zero detectable noise)
  • 100GPH
  • 140GPH
  • 165GPH

When matched correctly to the application and installed properly, these systems deliver industry-leading filtration while maintaining the quiet operation FASS is known for.

In fact, many customers are surprised by just how quiet a properly installed FASS system really is.
