It's a fair question.
After all, pretty much every fuel filter company claims their filters are the best. So what actually makes FASS Fuel Filters different?
The answer is simple: Proven Performance. Not marketing claims. Not theories. Actual
third-party testing.
Industry-Leading Water Separation
One of the biggest threats to any diesel fuel system is water contamination.
Water can:
- Reduce fuel lubricity
- Damage injectors
- Accelerate pump wear
- Lead to costly repairs
That's why we developed the
XWS3002 and
XWS3002XL
Extreme Water Separators.
Unlike traditional coalescing-style filters, our Extreme Water Separators utilize a specialized
microglass filtration element that doesn't just separate water—it literally absorbs and traps it within the filter media itself. That's what we call:
Real Water Separation™.
What Is "Real Water Separation"?
Many traditional water separators rely on a coalescing design. You know the type—they're usually the filters with a drain valve on the bottom.
These filters allow water to collect at the bottom of the housing, where it's supposed to be drained periodically.
The problem?
For one, the water is still inside the filter housing. Secondly, a huge percentage of owners simply forget to drain their filters consistently.
Our approach is different. The microglass element in the XWS3002 and XWS3002XL physically traps and retains the water within the filter itself.
That's why FASS water separators
don't need a drain—there's no pool of water sitting in the filter waiting to be drained.
The water is captured inside the element!
SGS Laboratories Verified It
Independent testing performed by
SGS Laboratories
verified that FASS Fuel Systems remove: Over 99% of the water found in diesel fuel.
That's why you'll often hear us talk about
Real Water Separation. It's not just a slogan.
It's backed by actual laboratory testing.
What Happens If You Get a Really Bad Batch of Fuel?
Here's where things get interesting. If you accidentally fill up with a seriously contaminated batch of diesel fuel, our
Extreme Water Separator will continue trapping water until it reaches capacity.
Once that happens, the filter can become restricted enough that the truck may shut down.
Is that inconvenient? Absolutely. But, it's a whole lot better than allowing that water to pass through and destroy:
- Injectors
- Injection pumps
- Fuel rails
- Other expensive fuel system components
In other words: you'd rather replace filters and drain your fuel tank than spend thousands of dollars on a new injection system.
